About St. Mark African Methodist Episcopal Church

Who We Are

Welcome to the St. Mark African Methodist Episcopal Church where Dr. Cassius Levan Barclay serves as the honored pastor and under shepherd. St. Mark is located in the City of Pomaria, Newberry County, South Carolina. We are a wonderful Community of Faith that believes that there has never been another you, there is not another you and there will never be another you. You were uniquely created by God in a class all by yourself.

The Apostles’ Creed

I believe in GOD the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son our Lord, conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried. On the third day, He arose from the dead, He ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of GOD the Father Almighty; from thence, He shall come to judge the quick and the dead.  I believe in the Holy Ghost, the Church Universal, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting

Our Mantra declares that we shall “Love St. Mark! Think St. Mark!! Support St. Mark!!!”

What We Believe

Our Beliefs

Saint Mark is a member of the Methodist family of Churches; as such, we do not differ in any significant way from what all Methodists believe. The two important historical documents, that are the basis of what we believe, are the Apostles’ Creed and the Twenty-Five Articles of Religion.
